WHAT IS EASYKART?
EASYKART IS A PROJECT AIMED AT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BASIC KART SEGMENT
The initiative was promoted by Birel management in the late '90s, following market analyses carried out nationwide which had highlighted the main problems that, over several years, had been causing a worrying fall in the number of pilots in all age brackets.
It was soon clear how the high management costs were an obstacle to the diffusion of such discipline, junior classes included.
Not only these problems, but many others hampered the expansion of this sport: far too sophisticated karts, excessive breaking-up into categories, unstable regulations, complicated racing formats and, more generally, insufficient assistance and qualified services for racers.
It was immediately clear that creating a new product or category would have been of no use.
It was necessary to draw up a proper project including a definite training path for the young, offering in the meantime valid solutions for all basic users not involved in top karting.
In order to achieve such results karting had to be reinvented by drawing up an extremely articulated and ambitious project.
Easykart today boasts a remarkable record with almost 100% of the pilots starting in class 60 reaching class 100.
And such trend is consolidating in all stages of the project, which starts with class 50cc, a training program for pilots between the ages of 6 and 10. 8 year olds can access class 60cc and start racing benefiting of the advantages a single-brand provides: low management costs, thanks to extremely rigid technical regulations and elevated training value, the latter achieved with the use of standard vehicles to award personal talent.
Class 100cc is the natural evolution of 60cc, and pilots can enter it as early as at the age of 12.
At this stage, and with the necessary experience, the best can upgrade to Cik classes: 100 Junior or 100 Ica according to age. 125cc, both single-gear and Shifter, is the ideal option for racers not interested in this program, providing the chance to continue with low cost, yet highly technical, karting.
A range of products as well as technical-sport regulations, had to be created to cater for the objectives of the project, focusing on management cost reduction and a simpler approach to the discipline. It is for this reason that it was decided to commercialize a version of electronic ignition ready-to-drive karts fitted with engine and tyres.
While, as regards regulations, one standard engine was selected to avoid expensive preparator rental fees, whereas sports - wise a race program simpler than former ones was approved: two qualification legs and a single Final (over a challenging distance); the same format as general public’s great favourites Formula 1 or Moto GP.
In addition, it was agreed upon minimum 5 years validity for regulations.
Birel’s plans for the future of Easykart are set: continuous great commitment in supporting the requirements of basic users while collaborating with all ASNs sharing the same targets.
